On Wed., Feb. 4, Potosi High School juniors and seniors visited Jefferson College and Mineral Area College to take a tour of the campuses.
Upperclassmen are welcome to attend college trips to tour the facilities and explore post-secondary education opportunities, as long as students have a signed permission slip, which can be found in the counselor’s office. These tours are a great opportunity to see what different colleges can offer students who are considering attending that school.
Junior, Makinnly Summers said, “Going on the tour to Jeffco and Mac was really important and helped a lot because I want to go into radiology and was between these two schools. Going on the tour helped me learn about both schools and their pros and cons to help me decide which one I would most likely want to go to when I graduate high school. It was a great experience.”
Going on these tours helps students have more ideas on jobs and further more detailed education. Students can see more opportunities for their special interests and compare programs for their desired field of education.
Miss Gray said, “College tours are the best way for students to witness firsthand what campus life is like. They are better able to understand the environment, expectations, and facilities available to them. There is so much that goes into deciding which school to go to, and I believe campus tours are able to answer a lot of those questions. Whether it be their academic goals, social preferences, or even extracurricular activities, tours give students a better insight to all of that and more.”
On March 3, there will be a tour for students interested in Cosmetology to Bloom Beauty Institution. Permission slips will be available in the counseling office starting next week (Feb 16). This will be the Last tour of the school year.
