It has come to our attention at Potosi High School, and in our community, that there has been an increase of families in need of food. The average meal cost per person in Washington County is $3.09, and many families have a hard time gaining access to meals. The Reviving Hope church of God doesn’t want anyone going hungry.
Some people in Washington County are worried and afraid that they won’t be able to feed their family and some people have a hard time getting by and can’t support their family financially. Getting a job is hard these days and some people simply can’t get a job because they have a medical condition or can’t afford a mode of transportation. And it can be mentally hard knowing you can’t put food on the table for their family.
Some children end up getting removed from their homes because their parents are unable to feed them. When children can’t rely on their parents to feed them they have to rely on school lunches or special food programs to get by for the day but the food from the school can only last them for so long and then the next day they come to school tired of being hungry.
The Reviving Hope Church worked with flavor gypsies to get a place to share meals with the community. Every Monday night at 6 pm the church is offering meals to anyone who wants one. You can take it to-go or eat in and they are more than happy to be a friend or give you some company while you eat or just come in to talk. They offer something different every week the ladies from the church take turns cooking meals.
The church volunteers are accepting anyone who would like to come in. They are there to spread the love of Jesus and give a warm meal made with love. Mrs. Arnold is so excited about how the number of people coming in each week is rising. She and the other volunteers from the church love to help and give as much as they can. They have had a little over 20 people coming in each week since they started serving meals.
Mrs. Arnold said, “Come by and see us. We would love to help in any way and spread love throughout the community.”
