On Friday, February 13, junior Kanaan Wilson scored his 1,000 career point in a Trojan victory over the Ste. Genevieve Dragons to advance to the finals in the MAAA Conference Tournament. The Trojan community congratulates Kanaan on his accomplishment.
The PHS boys basketball team was awarded second place in the MAAA conference tournament.
On Tuesday, February 10 the boys went against Valle Catholic and won 75-54. Wilson scored 26 points and Peyton Rowe scored 23 points.
In the semis the Trojans faced Ste. Gen once again taking the win 77-71. Many players had many outstanding performances this game, with Rowe scoring 19 points, Wilson scoring 18, Rhenn Mapes and Alex Hogan scoring 12, and Thomas Lambing with 11. It was during this game that Wilson scored his 1000th.
On Saturday, February 15, the boys went against Farmington in the championship, unfortunately taking a loss.
Coach Jackson Conaway said, “Overall we are pretty happy with the tournament. We obviously wanted to win the tournament but being in the championship is a big accomplishment. The end of the season is getting close and we have to keep moving forward and be closer to playing our best basketball.”
The team will take on Hillsboro on Tue., Feb. 24 at home. JV starts at 5:30 pm and varsity follows.
