With the final bell of the school year just weeks away, Potosi High School is shifting its focus from daily lessons to high-stakes results. Starting April 9, the hallways of Potosi High School will fall into a “testing silence” as students tackle the Missouri End-of-Course (EOC) assessments that stand between them and their summer break.
Students should charge their Chromebooks the night before the test and get plenty of sleep. The morning of the test, be sure to dress in layers, eat a nutritious breakfast, and bring a snack/drink with you! Get to school 10–15 minutes earlier than usual. Rushing creates “panic mode” before you even see the first question.
Mrs. Gray said that for the next couple of weeks, students should be doing EOC review/prep in their classes and possibly targeted tutoring. All EOC classes should be doing practice tests. If you feel as though you are not prepared, you can do practice tests online, just look up Practice EOC test/prep.
She continued by saying that if your teacher is monitoring a room for EOC, your class will sit in the gym for that hour. If you are testing, this is a high-stakes test; ensure you try your best, for these scores will go on your transcript. The reason this is a high-stake test is because of state funding.
If you do well on your EOC (advanced or proficient), you get rewards such as a free tardy slip, skip day, etc., and yes, you get to choose which ones you want. If you don’t do as well on your EOC, there is no consequence for scoring low; only that it will be put on your transcript, so if you plan on going to college, they will be able to see that.
English Classes- Comp 1 will test in Apr. 9-17, Comp 2 will test Apr. 9-17
