The Potosi Trojans wrestling team faced several schools at the District tournament at Desoto Senior High School on Feb. 14-15, where they placed 6th as a team.
Sophomore Kammara Tedder (115lbs) placed 3rd and scored 22.0 team points, finishing the day 5-2. She won by fall over Keira Mcmillin in her fifth match.
Tedder said, “My goals are probably just to perform to the best of my abilities and potentially metal.”
Junior Launa Cantrell (170lbs) placed 2nd and scored 24.0 team points. Her match for 1st ended in fall, resulting in a 2nd place finish.
Three-time state qualifier Cantrell said her goals this year are to “place at state and to just go farther than I ever have before.”
Freshman Shelby Pendleton (190lbs) placed 3rd and scored 22.0 team points. After winning 6 matches in a row, her last successful match was by fall over Jayla Ransom (Gateway).
Sophomore Zowee Gamble (235) placed 3rd and scored a total of 20.0 team points. Zowee had a 6-match winning streak ending in a match against Union, by fall over Kamille Hill. This win secured Gamble’s 3rd place.

The 2026 MSHSAA Class 1 Girls State Wrestling Tournament for Potosi High School is scheduled for February 25-26, 2026, held at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia Missouri. Tickets are available on the MSHSAA website.
