Missouri State University representative visits PHS

The admissions counselor, Charley, from Missouri State University (MSU) met with seniors at Potosi High School on Oct. 24 in the Library to answer questions students may have about MSU.

Around ten Potosi High School seniors came to the Library during Trojan TIme to ask Charley questions and learn more about MSU.

While in the library, the seniors filled out information cards to request information on the college.

Charley explained how he recently graduated from MSU in the Spring of 2023, so he had personal experience with the campus and forms to share with the seniors.

Potosi High School senior Kaelynn Mosier said, “Charley was really nice, and I liked how he told us about his experience at MSU. He had a really good experience at MSU, and made the school sound fun and interesting. I don’t know if I want to apply there, but it does sound like a great school.”

Seniors asked how to apply online, about specific majors, about getting involved in clubs, and how the waiting list for dorms and housing worked.

A few of the ten seniors that came to the meeting showed much interest and applied to MSU while they were in the library.

Potosi High School senior Grace Puckett said, “Charley answered the questions that I had about the Pharmacy program, and him explaining his positive experience at MSU made me want to go there. They have the Pre-Pharmacy program I need for my undergraduate major, and they also have the Pharmacy graduate program that I need. I like the idea of getting both of my degrees from the same university, so I applied to MSU, and I am waiting to hear back.”

Charley explained that if any of the seniors wanted to stay close to home, but still get the college experience, then MSU is a great choice because it’s only three hours away in Springfield.

If any of the high school students are thinking about going to MSU, and didn’t make it to the meeting, or have more questions go to Missouri State University’s website at, https://www.missouristate.edu/.
