Most people find public speaking a nightmare. Jesse Steele finds it a vacation. Whether she’s competing in Extemporaneous Speaking or leading the Drama Club’s next improv set, she has spent her high school career proving that the best way to find your own voice is to try on a dozen others first.
Jesse has filled her days with an astonishing amount of activities, such as National Honor Society 4-year member, Industrial Arts Society 4-year member, and 3rd year President. Drama club member for 4 years. Thespian member for 4 years, current vice-president of the Speech team, 4-year member, current Debate captain, Concert choir 3-year member, current leadership team member. Swing choir 3-year member, current dancer, Pommies dance team 2-year member, Future Health Careers of America 2-year member, Book club 2-year member. Math club member, current President.
Jesse said, “I do all these activities and competitions for myself. I found things I love doing, and wanting to be good at them was just natural. My parents have been my biggest supporters, always pushing me to be the best I can be. Since I was a kid, they told me to find something to be a part of and put my all into it. I can happily say that I’ve done just that. My senior year has been filled with record-breaking accomplishments by my teams, and I’ve personally met most of the goals I’ve set for myself.” She believes the quote: “Give your all until the very end” and that defines who she is.
The stage lights aren’t dimming for Jesse anytime soon. She’s headed to Mineral Area College to keep the momentum going in their theater and choir programs.
