As it gets closer to the end of the year, seniors realize their year has really flown by, and it’s the final countdown.
The countdown shows up in small moments, like talking about when it will be the last day for seniors or during senior activities.
“As an athlete, I was always looking forward to the next meet or the next season. After the district cross country meet, it hit me hard how quickly the season went by and how I’ll only have the memories to cherish,” Carley Coleman stated.
In those moments, we realize that it’ll be the last time in high school, the last time we’ll have to deal with the phone ban, and we’ll be making bigger decisions in life.
Senior Ruby Gibson said, “When you start your senior year, you feel like you have SO much more time than you realize. Before you know it, you’re having your last moments in your favorite activities. For me, my last musical hit me the hardest. We just had our closing night for Xanadu, and being surrounded by all the people who have made theatre feel like home was such an overwhelming feeling. The memories I made in that activity have impacted me so much, and I don’t think it’ll be possible for me to forget them even years down the line.”
As graduation approaches, the idea of “the last time” becomes more real, and when the last day arrives, it won’t just be the end of school; it will be the end of a chapter that students don’t realize was written until it was almost over.
Lane Revelle said, “I’m not going to college to play baseball anymore, so this is my last year playing. I’m just trying to make the best of it while I can and have fun.”
We’ll look back on the memories we once made and the fun we had.
“I never realized how fast senior year flies by until I became a senior. It feels surreal that I will be graduating in a few short weeks. As graduation approaches, I’m excited to further my education and see where my future takes me. I will forever be grateful for the memories and experiences I have been given throughout my high school years,” Lily Volner commented.
We’ll say hello to the new opportunities out in the bigger world because high school was just the beginning.
Mandy Cantrell said, “After high school, I will be attending the Nursing program at MAC. High school has given me so many opportunities to pursue this dream and discover what I truly want in life. It has allowed me to find my passion.”
Don’t get overwhelmed when you realize the time has flown by and you don’t know what to do after high school. Go for what you love and what you really want to do. Find something that you like doing. The teachers and counselors are always there to help you find something for you.
