On Dec. 12 Potosi’s speech team competed in finals at Festus high school. This concludes their MESA Conference meets.

At finals, the students competed in one round in front of three judges to determine where they ranked in each of their categories. For events such as Poetry and Prose, they had to compete in semifinals before in finals due to so many kids scoring high.

Along with so many kids medaling, Potosi speech team got 1st place in the Conference Champions Sweepstakes, scoring 62 points in total. This is Potosi’s first time getting 1st place in the Sweeps.

Junior Aaron Thompson said, “I was very nervous for rewards, I didn’t expect to get 1st in anything. Beating Jackson in the Sweeps was amazing.”
