The Potosi Trojans football season has officially ended with the record being 7-5. The Trojans fell short to Dexter with the score being 12-33. The Trojans had many good things happen during the season, these are some of the top highlights of this season as the team reminisced.
#1 Having a winning season- The Trojans went 7-5 which was the first time they have had a winning season since 2019.
#2 Beating Central- The Trojans beat Park Hills Central 35-28 in the district playoffs for the first time since 2014.
#3 Going to play for a district title- The Trojans traveled to Dexter to play for a district title. The team hasn’t been there since 2009.
#4 New Coaches- The Trojans have gotten a few new coaches which have positively impacted the team. These coaches boosted morale and helped the program become more successful.
#5 Mark Casey Winningest Head Coach- Potosi Head Coach Mark Casey became the most winning coach in the school’s history. Coach Casey surpassed former head coach Mike Thebeau who has 55 wins . Casey achieved this feat against Fredricktown, where the Trojans beat them 48-15.
#6 Change of Mentality – The Trojans have changed the culture of the program this season, the winning season and competing for a district championship has ultimately changed the culture for the team for the future. The Trojans main quote for this season was “All in” which really proves that they wanted to win.The Program has reignited with the strong season this year.
#7 Individual stats- David Miller had 1128 yards this season with 10 touchdowns. Noah Walton had 2161 Yards with 33 touchdowns. Thomas Lambing had 722 yards and 8 touchdowns this season with many others on the team that accomplished many things to help the team.
#8 Healthier season- The Trojans had a low amount of injuries this season and 0 season ending injuries.
Through the high and lows of the season the Trojans still stuck through the season and worked hard every day. As the team starts to prepare for 2026-2027 season, the team will come back stronger and fight harder for the district title.
