For the Potosi High School Concert Choir, the road to State starts with a single note. Every year, students face off at Districts, chasing the elusive ‘Exemplary’ rating that serves as their ticket to the big stage. This year, the Trojans sent four ensembles and five solos to districts. When the final scores were determined, Potosi dominated, punching a State-bound ticket for three ensembles and four soloists.
Success at this level isn’t an accident; it’s the result of early mornings, late nights, and a relentless commitment to perfection that went far beyond the classroom bell. Apr. 29th-30th, these students took a trip to the University of Missouri in Columbia and got to sing their songs one last time in front of state judges, hoping for another big win, and they were not disappointed.
These were the final ratings received:
Mixed Double Quartet- gold/1 rating
SA Miscellaneous Purple- gold/1 rating
TB Miscellaneous- gold/1 rating
Macy Saunders solo- silver/2 rating
Kinden Long- silver/2 rating
Chase Price- gold/1 rating
Lana Parmley- silver/2 rating

At districts, Macy Saunders, Kinden Long, Chase Price, and Lana Parmley received exemplary scores in their solos. Mixed Double Quartet ( Cheylee, Kenzie, Macy S, Lana, Kinden, Owen, Chase P, Brennon), SA Miscellaneous Purple (Jaiden Jackson, Cheylee Long, McKenzie McCormack, Macy Saunders, and Cheryl Richard ), TB Miscellaneous (Jesse D, Isaiah, Camron, Brennon, Jesse S, Kinden, Hudson) ensembles all received exemplary as well.
They arrived as nervous soloists and small ensembles, but they left as a singular, tired, and triumphant team. The scores were just numbers on a page; the smiles on the ride home were the real grade.
