On February 24th, Launa Cantrell and the rest of the state qualifiers traveled to Columbia for the MSHSAA State Championship for wrestling.

On February 26th, Launa wrestled her first match of the day, ending with a win. With this win, Launa became the first state female wrestling medalist in Potosi R3 History! Potosi High School and our community are extremely proud of this young lady.
Launa has been wrestling since seventh grade and has continued to work hard throughout high school to become better. Launa has achieved several accomplishments during her high school career, including being a three-time State qualifier and hitting her 100th win in the first match she wrestled.
Launa’s first match on the 26th was for sixth or fifth place; she was able to advance to her next match for fourth or third. Launa completed this match, finishing overall in third place. This is another huge accomplishment for Launa.
Coach Ross said, “Launa’s win has impacted the team in many ways. Her greatest attributes are the winning habits that she displays every single day. She is disciplined in her workouts, her mat work, and in the classroom. She exemplifies winning habits. When all your habits are winning habits, the wins will accumulate.”
Launa has made more than just history in this small town; she has made a lasting impact that people will remember for years to come. Through her dedication, hard work, and commitment to making a difference, she has inspired others. Her achievements have not only set new standards but have also brought pride and recognition to the town.
